A Commentary Reflection on "Economic Incentive in Software Design" by Hal R. Varian

Research File: http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/~hal/Papers/Software.pdf

Reflection:

Software is an essential part of a computer system. According to Wikipedia.org, "Computer software is a general term used to describe a collection of computer programs, procedures and documentation that perform some tasks on a computer system."

Varian stated that "The market for computer software is large and rapidly growing." Yes, this is really true nowadays. Thousands and thousands of new software are popping like mushrooms all over the world wide web. In Varian's study, he investigated a significant part of the software design economics.

Truly, software design is a conscious essential for software designers. It must touch key ares (as cited by Varian): User cost (how the software can be of ease with the use), market structure (how the software is concentrated and dense within the market), basic idea (simplicity and briefness), design of a word processor, monopoly provisions of quality, model, software that is too easy to learn and policy implications.
